Well on tuesday im going up from my little hometown of marysville to go meet someone up in seattle to purchase a vx1k. comes with a 5 hour battery, and a working charger. The basics.

I've called him and spoken with him and he really seems to know his shit on the vx1k, 2k, and trv series.

He's selling me the VX for $900 opposed to his asking price of $1.5k. I offered $1k But he said he would let me keep $100 for tapes since he knows its going to a good home.

Its newley refurbished*, everythings been cleaned and tested recently, and has had a new motherboard installed recently.

He noted that this VX has the ability to go even lower on the shutter speed and film at night almost as good as a vx2k.

He stated that common american vx's shutter speed can only go down to 60. While this camera is a japanese version+ an upgrade of some sort and can lower its shutter speed to 4.

The japanese version which is cool with me, I've seen the translation guide and everything.

Even if It doesent film at night as long as it films It's fine with me, and he says its in really good condition.

I'll be meeting him in person so I can test out the camera, so a scam really isint possible.


Just wondering if the upgrade to film at night is legit, ive never heard of it ever...so why not come to SP to find out! Haha

I never heard of a vx1k being adjusted like this. would like to no more info anyone has any more information i'll be glad to hear it.

I have a jap vx and yea it does go down to 4 I have never recorded anything in that setting though sounds interesting what he said.

Well if you can adjust the shutter speed down as low as four. That means you can adjust it to just be at like ten right?

I plan on testing this when I get the camera and I'll post a footage review if anyone wants it.

I'll see if it turns out grainy too. Maybe it wont, who knows. People with a jap VX do. Test it out and get back at me please, or I'll just do the test myself tuesday night.

My english vx goes down to 4 and when it's set that low everything looks blurry and trails coming off of moving objects or still objects when i move the camera around, kinda like what it looks like to be on acid/drunk. Kind of like when in movies when it shows people through first person view when theyre drunk. It looks retarded anyway.

When you go below 1/60th it gets very flickery, I wouldn't recommend it for skating.

All vx's can go down to 4 shutter speed, you just have to have it set to Zoom in the Digital mode. If you set it that low it would look like a cell phone video. Except with a really really bad cell phone.

Now I'm gonna ask a question regarding shutter speed since it seems like your question has been answered.

Is "24p" on the vx1000 simply 1/30 shutter speed? I could never find the correct answer to that.
