So a larger Fnumber will have more in focus and a lower will Fnumber will have only the subject in focus and the background blurry?

The proper term for it would be F-stop or aperture. But yes usually if you have a larger the Fstop, the more you would technically have in focus. Take into mind that, with the larger fstop, you will also have a darker picture and have to compensate with either the shutter speed or iso, or both sometimes.
