Just get yourself known around your school or something. I'm in high school and I'm constantly swamped with filming and editing projects. Mostly filming plays or performing arts things. This is super easy money because most of the people just want a straight on shot for the whole thing and I just need to shorten time between scenes and cut out intermission. I get like $150 for that.

Before looking for jobs, I'd suggest making a demo reel. On of the first things someone will ask is " Can I see some of your previous work?"

I did a video when all these protests happened around the school district, and now I've been asked to do a few different videos. Mainly for assemblies and I'm hoping to start on one in the near future that will go on the website and shit, but at the moment I'm not getting paid because teachers can't pay students unless I am an official employee of the district. So I'm really just volunteering right now. I'm going to do something with the video production teacher soon and he has connections and I'm hoping he'll put in a good word for me. So really it's just about getting your name out there as "the dude that makes good videos", then hopefully someone with an actual job hears your name, and wants you to help him or her out.

Its amazing how how many people think your badass because you have a vx, dvx setup.
But its all about how you use it.
Ive been asked to shoot a music video and he was willing to pay me, and buy all the stuff i need.
and one of my dad's friends might give me a one time job. i dont know what it is, but im kind of anxious.
Just really try to get known at school if your in highschool like me. or even college.
in my eyes its a step by step process.

Ive shown that before. Just when youre watching it with them explain that you ride on a skateboard while filming. people are blown away by keeping a camera steady while rolling. They assume if you can do that you can film anything else haha.

Its just knowing people.... make friends with a kid in theater, make friends with local commercial makers (the shitty local commercials you see on tv). thats both of my jobs. hook up with a local wedding filmer for 2nd angles etc. start out as a partner then once you know more do your own thing.

Heres my best paying gig and its a fantastic deal. there is a local theater summer program (most decent sized cities have them) and i film the summer camp kids throughout the month, final performance, throw it on a dvd, and sell the dvds to the parents. no one pays me to film, just for the final product. sell the dvds for 15-20 depending on quality.
Its great cuz the parents ar obligated to buy a copy cuz their kids are with them.
they have to fill out preorder forms and youll ship them out obviously but thats my gig over summers ha.

on 6 weeks of work i made about $3k.

if im not doing that over summers i edit commercials for a local guy haha.

try your local skatepark or skate shop you might have luck there especially if there not a free park and have a skate team, shop managers are always trying to find ways to get their skaters who represent them out there to bring in consumers

i used to film people's senior exit projects (for a price). I made so much off those i pretty much did their project for them.

The biggest key thing is to just volunteer to shoot things for people for free. That way you can get together a nice portfolio of works and begin to actually get hired for real jobs.

Theres a bunch of kids in my high school who want me to film them music videos so it shouldnt be hard to find work
