Welcome back to SP. As you may realize, things may look a little different but it's all still here. Things to make note of: I updated the software to the latest version so your display name will be your original user name... I could manually go and update them if necessary If you were a moderator, you may still be one but I'm likely to clean up the extensive list to something reasonable Many forums got merged together to save on wasted scrolling space just to get to AAG While SP was down, Photobucket changed their policy for hot linking photos, so there's bound to be thousands of broken images on here... That's out of my control This new software is way different than the stuff that was used previously, so hang with me as I figure stuff out There's an abundance of pinned topics cluttering everything up... This is an artifact of merging so many forums together and will be a manual process to clean up So what happened to SP? Long story short, I was getting a little bummed on the place as it had been a great collaborative community for nearly 10 years and then went off the rails as a spot for idiots and trolls so when some big bills for overages came in, I said "screw it, shut it off" and let it die. Fortunately over that year and half I received many emails, DM's and even people giving me shit in person about bringing it back. So here's to seeing if we can restore it to a place that fosters learning and all of that stuff. I hope you all enjoy, I'll look forward to seeing what everybody has been up to.

Here's a shot from over the break... Also a Q flash got demolished that day, awesome. Is linking from IG kosher? We'll find out.

Can't remember the last time I did this so I'll just post my favorite photo from the past 6 years since I last was posting on here. This one was my first cover and was an insane battle to watch. I had broke my camera in half the night before and had somehow managed to get it put back together for $150 the same day I dropped it off. *feeling lucky* Hugo Balek, No Comply. San Francisco, CA. And I guess a bonus one to make up for lost time. Johnny Purcell, crook pop over. Halifax, NS.

Hey guys, I have an idea. To help bring SP back to life, I propose we should come together and create something great. We can use social media as our platform to announce the relaunch and tell people who don't already know about SP that the community even exists. Lets get this conversation going. Feel free to contribute any ideas you may have big or small and lets collaborate. Lets bring SP back to its former glory!

I'm not sure where I heard it, but I remember hearing how Steve Olson had a photo of Alex at birth. Alex thought it was wired and Steve thought it was special. While my wife and I were preparing our "go bags" for when she goes into labour, I kinda thought it was weird to bring a camera with me because this is the peak of humanity. Eventually decided to bring a camera and shoot MF. The only photo I could meter correctly and focus because I was so nervous came out pretty wild. The photo itself is dusty and dirty, but that's how having a child is. Bonus: here she is today. Shot Digi. Pixel 2.

Made a few skate videos, this being the latest one, and this one coming out in the next few months. Outside of skating I work for an Iron Maiden mobile game, mostly doing marketing/promotional video/screenshot type of stuff. I'm hyped SP is back.

Figured it couldn't hurt to have a roll call and see what everybody has been up to. I've been an old man (older than ever), barely skating but I still keep up with it all. A lot of life hammers in the past few months, got engaged, expecting a baby boy (Dylan) in March, got my MBA from NC State and bought a place in Raleigh to store all of these things, make meatloaf, etc. Hope everybody else is doing well.

This is one of the first photos I ever shot that I was really stoked on. Wish the spot was still there, only went once and then it was removed a couple months later. I have been told it's too tilted. Opinions?

What’s up guys. It’s been a minute. Me and Andrea just recently moved back to Florida and bought a house. I’m a full time UI/UX designer now working remote for a small start up, and make electronic music in my free time. Andrea is also a UI/UX designer as well. We’re 27 now and coming up on a 10 year anniversary. I still skate a little bit, but the majority of my free time is spent between working on personal design projects for portfolio and making music. But I’ve been trying to skate more lately. Most of my FL homies moved out of state but my filmer homie just moved back so we might go out and skate soon. I’m a chubby fuckin piece of shit now so on top of not skating very often, it’s also 100x harder lol.

I got sober 3 years ago. I skate way more than I did for the last 6 years. Filmed a video part which I haven't done since I was 16. Built a darkroom at my house and shoot as much film as I can. I mean, I work in a restaurant, but I'm enjoying more of the stuff I was missing out on.

Even though I agree with all of your pros, the cons outweigh them, and this video (in my opinion) is one of the worst, most unwatchable pieces of skate media ever made.

Figured I'd post more from over the hiatus as I've had no critique for the last few years due to the site being down. This one is of myself, I set up everything and put the camera on the tripod for a homie to press the shutter button, so technically I still shot it I guess? Biggest self critique is that you can't see my face, but I wanted to frame it between the two buildings, plus there was a distracting pole right between the two buildings that this type of framing allowed me to cover. Rip it up.

The fisheye in this was filmed in 4:3 anamorphic on GH5 (with Canon 8-15) as well: Fisheye filmed at 4K anamorphic with the lens at 8mm with a Viltrox EF M2 and then cropped down into a 1440 x 1080 timeline. The zooming long lens was AC90 at 1080p60.

What happened to you that you needed some advice from SP while we were on the "Great Break"? I really wanted to do some photo project of building a dark room in my small ass apartment. I was so confident that it would work out that I went and got second hand dark room equipment at a reasonable price from craigslist. All indications lead me to believe that I would be fine because I've done this before. My problem was figuring out what chems I needed. I asked around on instagram, asked on facebook messenger, and even talked with some people at the photo store, but i couldn't get all the resources in one place to actually know what I needed to do. So I buy some dev stop and fix, get it all sorted out in my bathroom, turn the fan on, and start thinking I know what I'm doing. I get out and I realized that my fan only moves air around in my bathroom and I was just inhaling fumes this whole time. I was in their for a while without anything to show for it. nothing came out wasted pretty much all the chem, and tons of photo paper. I was so turned around at work the next day that I went to the doctor. "Yeah maybe don't do that again". It was no one's fault but mine, but the whole reason i needed SP was I couldn't explain to anyone how and what happened. I needed to tell someone how Photography was almost the death of me.

I don't usually make videos anymore these days but I certainly need to get back into it. This is a recap video including some of my favorite memories from 2017. First time going for a cinematic style. Mostly exploring, but some skating as well.
