AN INTERESTING BREAK THROUGH WITH THAT KID WHO GOT HIS FINGERS CUT OFF BY A WOOD SPLITTER.

I was out at my uncles house cutting wood for the winter with a wood splitter. I wasn't paying attention and my hand got jammed in between the wood and the point of the wood splitter (where the wood gets split in half). We got in the truck at 6:00 pm and went to the house to get ice. We drove to the hospital with my hand in a bucket of ice. We got there and they gave me some pain killer. At this time I didn't know the extent of the damage to my left hand. They had to decide whether to treat me in ch'town or Halifax. They picked Halifax and then had to find the quickest way, either by ambulance or helicopter. They chose the helicopter. It took off at 9:00 and landed on the roof of the Halifax Infirmary at 9:40. I went in to surgery at 11:00 pm and got out at 7:30 am. (8 1/2 hour surgery). The extent of the injury consisted of the detachment of my thumb, and index finger. The middle finger fractured and tendons were cut."

"The tip of my ring finger including the nail is cut off. At this time, sunday morning, all fingers were reattached and blood was flowing. They continued to monitor my fingers on an hourly basis. They put four leaches on my index finger at different times during the week because blood was flowing in but not out of the finger and the leach sucked out the bad blood. On Thursday my index finger was cold. They decided on saturday to go back into surgery. In surgery, they removed my index finger and the knuckle. They have been checking my thumb with an ultra-sound type of machine, which you can hear the blood flowing. they took a skin graft off my thigh. (skin graft means when they remove the top layer of the skin and sew it on my hand). My leg now is like if you fell off your bike and skinned your knee. I started physiotherapy yesterday, sunday the 2nd of Nov, on my middle finger. The bandages on my hand will be removed tomorrow, tuesday the 4th so the Doctor can see..."
