In Depth: Cloud Storage for Photographers and Filmers

I shoot JPEG+RAW and have all JPEGs synced to Google Drive (it syncs to your Google Photos feed), which is synced to the work computer as well and external drive, and keep all RAW files on a external drive with RAID 1. If I could afford, I would have and additional copy, but this is a good basic setup.
  2. So far it seems that the only proper solution is to only do print with no digital distribution and using core skate shops distribution for a reasonable fee. Downsides of such an approach are well known (distribution reach), but it brings along a loyal following. Anyone here gives/sells their work to such magazines? Would you consider posting only to such media, ignoring the internet completely?

    Sony A7rii For Skateboarding

Already someone is using it for just that: http://www.alexpasquini.com/blog/2015/8/1/from-canon-to-sony-hands-on-with-the-new-sony-a7rii-4k-camera

Best Dslr? Dslr Vs Hd Camcorder

Got any (low-light) footy to show? Patrick Walner also has one now, but hasn't released any skate footage yet.

    Gimbals For Lines

Mirroless bodies are very light and compact and I've seen a lot of cheap gimbals that support them. Has anyone tried filming lines with a gimbal and would the footage look better?

What Do You Do To Store Your Photos?

This is a similar tree structure to what I do. Also, I rename all the file to YYYY_MM_DD_original_filename just in case these files get moved to a different folder and could end up getting overwritten. Equally important is to have a backup or a mirror of these files on an external disc (and/or cloud if you can afford so much storage, Google Drive now with 1TB for $10/month)!

    Let Us Roam

You know what puzzles me with Red and Leica making these clips about skateboarding: are skateboarders their target market? How many high-priced cameras can they sell to the average skateboarding photographer/filmer? This is why I am also a huge supporter of the Sony NEX line - a high quality package for a reasonable price and with unlimited creativity. I would love to have the funds to buy Leica gear or at least lenses to adapt to Sony NEX, but overall this is a niche within a niche. On the other side you have Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Olympus, Sony, Fuji, Samsung ... all having decent sales from skateboarders that kinda ignore this market segment.

    Skate Mag Archive

And so it begins (I got 100GB for now, help me raise funds for 1TB): https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B95j6xazxDz7akx4MlFyeXVSVjg&usp=drive_web I'm adding videos all the time, so bookmark it or add it to your Drive. Also this is the list you can look forward too: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0At5j6xazxDz7dFVZakxSS0VOQnlycEVhY1IwU2NlZkE&usp=sharing

    Skate Mag Archive

Here's an update for the project: I am going to extend it to old videos. since Google Drive cut the prices of additional storage down to $2 per month for 100GB and $10 per month for 1TB, I will slowly move my video archive to the cloud, freely available to everyone. I will only upload old videos, that are not available for download any more. This is my list right now, but the uploading is going to be gradual, since my free-time is limited and so is my upload speed: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0At5j6xazxDz7dFVZakxSS0VOQnlycEVhY1IwU2NlZkE&usp=sharing I can handle $2 per month, but once I hit the 100GB limit, I'll need some help in the form of ad clicks for $10 per month.

    Skate Mag Archive

Getting dank would be pretty much impossible ... you'd need to buy it and scan it - it's not available online.

    Skate Mag Archive

Hey guys, I've been working on making my skateboard magazine PDF archive available online. Of course, only issues that cannot be bought anymore. Anyway, I believe a lot of you will appreciate the photography from the world over: http://skatemagarchive.blogspot.com/p/list-of-magazine-issues.html If you have any requests, I could make any mag available online into a PDF for easy reading on mobile devices etc.

    Sb Chronicles 2

there are some servo (power) zoom options for E-mount with a new lens coming very soon, so technically he could've used FS700 for those shots too

    Bike Light

Has anyone tried using a powerful bike light such as the one below as a video lamp? http://dx.com/p/new-377-5-x-cree-xm-l-t6-1600-2000lm-3-mode-white-bicycle-light-headlamp-grey-4-x-18650-213662 I guess the light would be too concentrated in a single spot, compared to a light panel ... but, if you are on a tight budget and would also need a good bike light, could you use it interchangeably?
