  1. Hey guys, I have an idea. To help bring SP back to life, I propose we should come together and create something great. We can use social media as our platform to announce the relaunch and tell people who don't already know about SP that the community even exists. Lets get this conversation going. Feel free to contribute any ideas you may have big or small and lets collaborate. Lets bring SP back to its former glory!
  2. I think it would be cool to see how much people have progressed their craft after all these years. I don't think the skating wouldn't have to be mind blowing, instead it would be more about the filming seeing as that this is a community of creatives. I know lots of you might not get to be involved in skating as much as way back when but it would be awesome if we could make something to show where we are now. Thoughts?
  3. You can still use warp stabilizer. there is a work around. you can either nest the clip then add warp stabilizer to the nest or make a new sequence an do it the same way. ever so often the new sequence way seems to work better for some reason but usually youd only need to use the nest feature. - Great job with the edit! i agree with all previous notes made by Jordan. Id invest in a decent fluid head tripod and learn how to use it for all long lens if you can since most people cant afford a good servo zoom. as for fisheye with single tricks, try planning out a path for your camera movement. decide how you want the composition to look at the start of the trick and at the end. I've been filming for 15 years and i still practice camera movements in between tries and constantly watch back the last attempts to see if I nailed the movement the way I wanted. as for filming lines, try keeping your wrist stiff and use your whole arm to guid the camera. it helps keep the motion smooth. Keep at it!!!
  4. I know I kind of already made a post like this where i posted the individual parts BUT now i have uploaded the entire video including intro friends and credits! Share around if you would and let me know what you hate. Haha, be gentle.

    LUCY - Montage

Stoked to see you're actively engaging here! If SP points were still a thing, I'd give you some. haha Anyways, though i appreciate Jordan giving his critique, I don't agree with it 100%. To each his own. I actually really like everything about this! The cool blue color palette made it feel cold, as it was being up in NJ that time of year. I loved all the music choices and I like that you chose a stylistic theme (the slow shutter b-roll) and used it consistently throughout without overdoing it in my opinion. My only real critique would be that your exposures are kind of all over the place. Alot of times over exposed and sometimes under. There was even a moment when you filmed 2 tricks at 1 spot and played them back to back, the lighting didn't look like it had changed too drastically yet 1 was over and the other was under. Keep an eye on that and even if you forget, simply adjusting it in post to try and match the shots would help tremendously. Also, the fisheye filming could use a little work. It's not awful, I'd say you should work on steadiness a little bit and thinking about how you want the shot composed before, and after the trick is landed. for example: 0:45 when he lands the boardslide. That framing doesnt seem thought out. Maybe it was but I kind of doubt it. Otherwise great job! It's awesome that you filmed this 10 minute edit in 6 weeks! Bravo
  6. Good point! Haha
  7. "wander" is a short film about breaking from the norm & finding happiness. "We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us." - Joseph Campbell Produced by: Patrick Bilazzo Directed, Shot & Edited by: David Stoessel Filmed on RED Epic Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro CC
  8. Thank you! As for the VO. The homie who i made the video for (the dude in it) did the VO and it tool a MONTH to get that out of him. I tried to coach him through it even because like you said, it sounded like he was reading a script. He was struglling so hard and i dont understand why. Haha so i kind of had no choice but to use the best takes from the 30 recordings he did. He also wanted MORE “fully flared zooms” and i had to convince him to not make me do it. Lol

    Canon GL2 Tips

still not exactly an answerable question. the quality is what it is. veeeeeeery outdated camera, picture quality is low compared to what is the standard now. audio is pretty awful. only thing i remember is the WB tends to lean toward green so try and compensate by pushing it toward red in the custom preset. I don't recall the verbiage in the menu system but i'm sure you can figure that out. that's about all i got! good luck

    Jades - Montage

fun edit. i didnt understand the wipe transitions. they didnt seem to exist for any reason if that makes sense.the ramped kickflip on the manny was also pretty random. it was all filmed good.

    Canon GL2 Tips

geeeeeez. haha, where did you find a GL2? that was my first camera! what kind of tips are you asking for? its a very broad question.
  13. Great Job! most time i see demo montages filmed by bystanders, they arent very good. this one was great! Volcom dudes are sick. was this HPX170?
  14. song was a full bop but footage looked good! did you add a vignette or is that due to a variable ND? i just wish there was more barrel distortion with the fisheye footage. thats pretty much the only thing that scares me from micro 4/3's. good job!

  16. Hey guys. I just made my first attempt at putting together a show reel to hopefully get some work. Its no skateboarding though it does have some skate related material. It was much harder than I thought to put it together in a way that shows work ive been involved with but without being too flashy and making it look like an editing reel. Im hoping it appeals to employers in different areas of the industry. Let me know your thoughts. (disregard the compression flaws. I was working with some compressed and some RAW files. Also, the Element Camp footage was filmed with an HPX170 so the footage kinda fell apart when grading but it was intended for instagram so it didnt matter much.) Thanks Password: 2018SR
  17. I have created a topic in the montage/promo section. Everyone who is interested pleeeease visit the topic and leave some feedback! Come on by
  18. Maybe. If ya got a specific idea, you think you could write up a lil script and pm me?
  19. Thanks for the tips. As for advertising, i dont plan to use it for anything like that. Its more to show potential employers or clients. Also the grade is all over the place because its all from different projects so I kept the grades from the projects. ????
  20. Dudes, we gotta get some more traffic. I so badly want this place to thrive! Anyone into helping create some commercials or anything for social media to annouce the return or somthing? Im down to try but would love some input or ideas!
  21. Hey everyone, Its safe to assume there are tons of people who have been apart of this site for a long time and have branched out from just filming skating. I'm one of those people. I feel this forum can and should cater to those people as well. That being said, I'll be the first to post some non-skate content. This is a video I was commissioned to cover this huge event where over 1,000 people came together and volunteered their time to give back to the community. They painted schools, houses, did yard work and much more. Here is the recap I made for Potters Cannabis Co. Shot with: RED Epic Dragon, Canon 24-7- F2.8, Canon &0-200 F2.8 Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017 This is the first video I've produced completely on my own using a RED so I'm still learning. If you guys have any critiques, have at it, if you just want to say hello, go for it. Interacting with like minded people is what this forum is all about so lets use it to encourage and help one another in everything that we do. Thanks
  22. Nice! Filming was pretty standard. Not bad but nothing that makes it stand out either. The edit was pretty bland. It didnt really look like it was edited much at all. More like clips playing randomly with a song. try editing the skating to the vibe of the song. cuts dont always have to be on beat as long as it flows nicely. Your on the right track but still have some space to learn. Keep at it!
