Best Dslr? Dslr Vs Hd Camcorder

I'm going to go with a 5diii - seems the safest choice. Would anyone be able to recommend a main lens to use for long shots please? I've had the 70-200 canon 2.8 mentioned to me but wondering how much difference it'd make saving money and getting the f4 version? Or getting a different lens altogether?

Best Dslr? Dslr Vs Hd Camcorder

I'm looking to shoot HD and crop to 4:3 like this I don't think this is possible with an HD camcorder so will be getting a DSLR I thin (which is a bummer for long lens footage). From researching them a bit it seems Sony A7s' are the best camera but suffer from worse rolling shutter than 5Diii or GH4s. Would a Canon 8-15mm fisheye fit on an A7s or GH4 - and if so would one of those two be a better choice than a 5Diii?

Is It Possible To Film 4:3 On An Hvx With A Mk1?

it's not necessarily the vx look i'm after - it's a HD camera that i can get close with whilst filming in 4:3

Is It Possible To Film 4:3 On An Hvx With A Mk1?

Oh does a vx1 film in 4:3!? Well that soves everything then! Is it possible to get an hvx or similar camera to film fish in 4:3 mode? And if so is it possible to get a fish that would fit the camera and still be wide enough to get as close as you can with a vx?
  6. Hi, Does anyone know if a century mk1 would fit on an HVX or any similar HD camcorder somehow - enabling it to film in 4:3, giving a VX1 effect? Cheers!
  7. Ok cool, what is your experience of receiving/sending VXs from abroad? Do many of them get damaged in transit?

Best Dslr? Dslr Vs Hd Camcorder

Hi, Sorry for the new thread but I found it pretty hard to find any clear info on this. What is the best DSLR for fliming skateboadng with, is it the Canon 5D mark 3? Also what are the pros and cons of filming with a DSLR as opposed to a full HD camcorder, and is the cost difference worth it? Thanks again!
  9. Ok I'll try the new tape as I have t got a headcleaner, thanks. With the other one I tried taking the door panel off to push the switch further up but it didn't solve it. Pricey fix?
  10. Ok so you mean record for a full new tape and see if it works after that? Also, I've got another vx where the steady shot turns itself on, any idea on that one?
  11. Ok, thanks for this. Do you by any chance know any places that know what they're doing with these cameras in the UK?
  12. Do you think it'd be an easy fix? It was quite a cold night out filming.
  13. Hi, The Vx1000 I've been using for quite a while now recently glitched a bit when I tried to watch back some footage I'd just recorded at a spot, then afterwards looked like everything was fine through the viewfinder but recorded nothing onto the tape!? Anyone know what this could be? Also, a different vx I've started using in it's place (never used this one before) has a seemingly sturdy viewfinder, but the image is flickery through it, and sometimes goes a bit dark. Could this be a ribbon cable issue or perhaps something else? Thanks!
  14. Hi, I just got back from a night filming in the cold, changed my battery to watch some footage back and when I put the new battery in it started beeping and flashing the eject symbol. It's done this before and I've dealt with it in the past by just taking the tape and battery out a few times until it stops. This time however when I tried the above it stopped flashing the eject symbol and started flashing what looks like a tear drop or kind of upside down diamond in a square box every time I turn it on. Does anyone know what this means?? Thanks
