    My Nigga Michael

Little did I know Michael was my college roommate and one of my good friends over the past 4 years. This is truly groundbreaking news. I'm starting to reconsider many things in life now.

    Lenses

So my 5D and Canon 15mm fisheye were stolen this weekend and I need to get a replacement as soon as possible. However, the Canon 15mm f/2.8 has been discontinued. Does anyone have any suggestions for a fisheye lens for a full frame camera? The Sigma 15mm f/2.8 seems to be the only option. Anyone have any experience with this lens? I would love to be able to get another Canon fisheye lens, but I'm always a little hesitant to buy something like that used, and the new L-series fisheye is way out of my budget.

    Post Yourself Skating

Here's some stuff from the last year!
  8. Hey everyone, For those of you who go to camp at Woodward, check out this video that I made for Lake Owen Camp this past summer. It has a lot of really great skating, as well as BMX and other camp stuff. It's completely free on iTunes, just type in Lake Owen Camp in the iTunes store, or click on the picture: Everything in the video was filmed and edited by me, and all of the music was approved for use by each of the bands. Let me know what you think!

    Cinematography Reel

Thanks for the critique, Tim. Aside from the length, I would have to disagree with you 100% about the footage with the school kids not promoting my cinematography. These show various lighting styles and control with light by keeping things consistent, as well as being more rounded with knowledge of different formats. They provide both night and day shots with different motivated sources such as the sun, lamps, and stage lighting. Not only that, but they also provide examples of controlled camera movements as well as static shots. I agree with the font, that is something that I definitely think I could change with this one. The aim is something professional, but I think this one missed the mark a little bit. As for the song, I feel that music in demo reels is often a personal taste type of thing. I enjoy the song for this edit and feel that it works for my reel, but I definitely understand if some people may not get the same feeling from it as I do. However, regarding the music's relation to the editing, I feel that this still gives me plenty of choices editing-wise and I did try to work with it in a way that I felt helped the reel. It definitely may fail to do so in some people's eyes, so I can understand what you mean. I am very against using any sort of unnecessary transition or effect for something like this, as it is made to highlight my cinematography and focus on the shots. Examples of this would include unmotivated cross dissolves, wipes, frames-within-frames, film burns or anything that I feel could take the focus away from the shots for even a second. Haha perhaps I'm just stubborn, but I suppose that's just my editing style here. Thanks for the feedback, any other questions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well!

    Cinematography Reel

Thanks guys. The 16mm is matted. I had the ground glass replaced on the camera in order to frame for a 1.85 aspect ratio. We had the film processed and transferred at Technicolor, and the grain was definitely bugging me. I may end up getting it transferred some place else in the future along with a roll of 35mm that I've had sitting around for a month. Thanks for the feedback!

    Whales

Thanks guys, I was about 150 yards away from the whale in the first shot and I was a bit closer on the second. I used the Canon 24-105mm f4 (at 105mm).
