  1. before you start trippin realize that 90% of the old japanese vx1000 threads are confusing as fuck, have broken links, expired photobucket pics and shit like that. i'm posting because japanese vx's are super cheap and i'm sure there are still lots of people who are just getting into it now. it can be a little intimidating at first and the full translation is scattered in a bunch of places so this will hopefully help. i tried to leave the japanese characters visible because it'll be easier if you just know what the symbol means. like on and off, you will see them a lot throughout the menus and stuff. also, this was just the first attempt at these pictures, so if i notice some room for improvements i'll do so. theres one here that i dont know. but i dont use the vtr mode at all anyways. and neither should you. the options in each menu are listed in this thread . maybe later i'll do all of those too this is only a translation. i'm not gonna give you lessons on how to use the camera cause that is well covered in many many many places like this pdf manual https://upload.cyfrowe.pl/cyfrowe/instrukcje/kamery/sony/instrukcja_sony_vx1000_eng.pdf if you have a jap vx and arent fuckin with it you can try hitting up kerry@videoelectronics.tv http://forums.skateperception.com/profile/4008-video-electronics/ and he will possibly convert it to english for you, for a fee shoutout to swackedflapjack, mkcolgan2, gaygaygalen, and flipsrowleykid
  2. Just dropped this transition part the other day, if you're into that sort of thing. It's my first transition project, but it was really fun to make. Cheers!
  3. Hi guys, I've recently bought a vx1000 for parts off a friend to fix another VX1000 (and yes I made sure the parts I needed were working before I bought it). The original vx (which we'll call vx1) had problems with the tape deck jamming open, everything else was working other than the tape deck. I looked this up and it turned out that the power supply board was broken and wasn't sending power to the tape deck so it stayed open. I took vx1 apart a few times and put it back together again and one the last time (probably the 3rd time I did so) when I put the battery in it wasn't working. Then I bought VX2 today took it apart and used the power supply board from that and put it in VX1 and it's still not turning on. I can't afford repairs and was really relying on fixing this camera, so if anyone knows what to do please let me know. And yes it's on standby and it's not the battery

    Mk2 Different Hoods

Why do some Century Mk2 lenses have a four petal hood and some have a two petal hood? Is there a difference in the optics at all? Is one a newer version, or do different camera mounts have different hoods or what? Thanks for any replies.

  10. Sorry I know this question has been asked a lot but what are the best export settings for a film mostly shot with a vx2000 but also has some HD and VHS footage in there aswell? I used to live with another filmer and he used to do all the export settings for me. There isn't much HD about 1 minute all together. The video is 37 mins long and i wanted to upload it to Vimeo and maybe have a couple of DVDS for the shop. Here is the trailer which is also a mix of DV/HD/VHS mix I can't remember what settings were used to export this from final cut 7 and then on to Vimeo. Many Thanks

  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTT1MtR_or4 This is the video part that got my friend, Brian Perez on Active Ride Shop Corona. The HD footage was hard to edit cause it couldn't be downloaded so it had to be recorded off the screen with another editing software and the audio was off by alot. HD footage by Francisco Macias VX footage by Jonathan Williams
