Best Budget Flash

Recommended Posts

So i'm looking into investing into an off camera flash but i'm on a tight budget. I've been looking at a couple different flashes, the Neewer TT-560 and the Yongnuo YN-560 II. If anyone has worked with either of those or both, if you could give me some advantages/disadvantages that would be great.

If you're just shooting stills, Vivitar 285HV, seconded - I had them for close to a decade and they were swell. The 285 non-HV has super high sync voltage, so never trigger it directly with a sync cable to your DSLR if you get one.

If you want sequences for cheap, SB-24, seconded, or SB-28.

If you want faster recycling on a budget for almost any Nikon flash (except the very newest ones), you can get one of these.

If you have a bit more cash, I highly recommend the SB-80DX.
