I'm a huge fan of the first photo. The positioning of the two girls in the newspaper feels like its filling in the gap of the missing living subject. Your attention is drawn to their faces as if the face of the living subject was visible. The girls shoulder line and torso position is pretty spot on to that of the covered subject as well. Another thing I enjoy is the contrast between the young beautiful models in the channel add and the clearly old withered hands of the person behind the paper.

Are these with the hexar? They're metered wonderfully, good contrast, soft yet gradually defined shadows. Around 400iso?

Super jealous of the hexar, saw you had that setup when I was down for Halsi's show.

Super jealous of how good these are too

The first one would be a good ad but ya its a great photo nothing else in it draws out your attention so its framed real well. One thing is it could be a little more contrasty but it doesn't hurt the photo that its not.
