VX1000 Blue Haze

Recommended Posts

Is it the VAP unit that causes that or just the lens?

(sorry that my reply doesn't really answer anything, just curious)

Not sure there are any perfect lenses left. Some are just better than others. The only way to be sure what you have and how easily it will integrate into the target cam is to actually do all the work and have a look. It's a lot of work

Can you make me a perfect vx? Maybe that would be the best option that you get the perfect pieces and make a good one for me

you can buy a lens hood, don't shoot into the sun, and shoot at a smaller aperture like f5.6/f8. I think yours has bad coating on it which is making it flare easily but you can avoid it by choosing different angles that don't make it flare. also white balance on a light blue and play with the wb shift to get a warmer image which could combat this too. your overall image seems to be blue. If you really want to fix it in post you can use curves adjustments and take blue out/put red and green into the shadows. also if youre using premiere you can desaturate just the blues in the curves tab of lumetri color on the hue saturation curve.

all of this. For real on the white balance. I always white balance off the ground and it turns out fine, never done it off paper or a white shirt or anything.

There's still a lost of definition tho. In the first screenshot the light isn't hitting the lens and the clip looks sharp and colors are great.

In the second screenshot the light is coming in the lens and the blue haze shows up and you can see the loss of definition starting in the center of the frame. Even tho the white balance is correct the haze is blue and affect the image.

Now look at this and tell me if It ever look like the second screenshot. Lot of different light conditions and still looks perfect everytime. This is how mint vx footage really is.

agreed. Trying to find a mint anything 20 years into its life if tough though. Given enough time, money, and effort, "mint", or close to it, can be restored.
